Auto Save Edits for ArcGIS Desktop 9.x is a toolbar that has buttons to start the timer stop the timer set the timer's duration and an option to display a notification when edits are saved. The tools are not enabled unless the user is in an edit session.

The "Show Message" check box can be removed from the toolbar if you don't need to be notified when edits are saved.

You can now change the interval while the timer is on. You will be prompted to choose wether or not to use the newley chosen interval.

Active edit sketches are no longer effected when edits are saved.
