For an easy to learn implementation of Arcpad with maximum versatility I have put together generic, one page forms for point, line, and polygon files.
These forms provide the following features:
1. an Auto-incrementing ID number field (uses a separate number series for each file).
2. a Title field for labeling features (max 30 characters).
3. a Remarks field for further notes (max 255 characters).
4. Camera ID and photo start-end fields for digital photos associated with the geographical feature. These fields are meant to log the filenames of photos stored separately on digital cameras.
5. Time and Date fields auto-populate for each record.
These generic files are also useful in emergencies when your more specialized forms fail.
Keep them stored somewhere on your mobile GIS system just in case.
