Summary
This ArcPad application was created to compliment the North Carolina Division of Water Quality Stream Classification form. For regulatory purposes, the State of North Carolina requires that a stream be classified as Ephemeral, Intermittent, or Perennial (http://ncrules.state.nc.us/ncadministrativ_/title15aenviron_/default.htm). The Division of Water Quality has compiled a field sheet based on a total of 30 indicators, classified by geomorphology, hydrology, and biology. This application enables the field surveyor to select "scores" for those indicators using drop down menus and adds the total score to determine stream classification. All values are saved in a shapefile. This ArcPad application was developed by North Carolina State University for research purposes, and has not been adopted for official use by the State of North Carolina. Includes a Trimble Terrasync Data Dictionary replicating the ArcPad Form. \
Now includes:
Segment ID for separating stream reaches
Log GPS signal accuracy information (HDOP, PDOP, Quality, Num Sats, Station ID, Correction Signal Age, etc for Trimble, Leica, and Garmin)
Populates X,Y,Z field.
Changed screen dimensions to fit trimble geoxt
Auto Increment reach code
Auto Populate the user time and date: this populates the GPS LOG START time and date for each point. The GPS TIME and DATE fields are populated at the end of the (averaging/logging) period.

Changed 1/16/07:
The BIOLOGY and TOTAL fields in the Trimble data dictionary have been updated to TWO decimal places. A field has been added for USGS topo map name.
Several unused fields have been removed from the schema definition.
A detailed explanation of the use of, and the calculation of, each field is included in the Metadata. Users are encouraged to read the metadata thoroughly before use.
10/24/2007 appended attribute values in Trimble Stream ID DD to show numeric value after text. Trimble DD will NOT add up the points for you, you must total up the points in each category and enter them. Still better than paper, though! This change will allow user to total up points "in your head" to get category and total stream points.
12/12/2007 Changed some origin class definitions, added support for "Buffer I/P" calls, fixed some metadata typos, changed POC to NCDWQ, added support for Corps "Ordinary High Water Mark", added some generic wetland points to the Trimble DD. "Some" of the revisions are replicated in the ArcPad application, but the ArcPad application is provided as a demo only and not supported by NCSU or NCDWQ due to difficulty and cost of post-processing shapefiles.
Note, if using this application in conjuction with regulatory stream ID, (e.g. consultant or gov't staff), DWQ requires that the raw Trimble SSF data accompany any data delivery. Non-gov't operators, in most cases, must also provide a PLS stamp on accuracy report. ...
