Summary
GPSi (GPS Interface) is an ArcMap Toolbar that allows users to communicate with Garmin ™ handheld GPS units. It was developed to allow users to rapidly download/upload data directly from ArcMap. The software uses the Garmin protocol to communicate with the GPS unit and will not function with other GPS brands.
Functionality includes:
- Download Waypoints
- Download Tracks
- Upload Waypoints
Installation:
- Read the instructions contained in the readme.txt file.
- Mscomm32.ocx is REQUIRED on the client PC (some users have experienced installation problems caused by this).
Users experiencing Error 429 will need to download and register the mscomm32.ocx component, this is available on the web:
http://www.input-drivers.com/drivers/54/54497.htm
The toolbar has been tested with a Garmin eMap and 12CX using ArcMap 8.2 on Windows XP.

Warning:
When uploading waypoints, if there is an existing waypoint with the same name it will be over-written. This is part of the Garmin waypoint protocol specification and not a function of the software.
Portions of this work are copyright Waymex IT - http://www.waymex.co.uk/
Version: 0.2 (Build 7)
- Includes support for newer GPS units.
