Do you have trouble configuring your GPS for
ArcPad 6 or 7? The FindGPS extension can help you.
The FindGPS dll is an extension for ArcPad
6.0.1, 7.0 or higher that can automatically
detect a NMEA or TSIP GPS hooked to your
computer or mobile device. It will read
ports 1-12 (1-32 for the 7.0 version) using
sixteen different baud (1200-115200) and parity
settings looking for legitimate GPS messages.
The GPS has to be active and sending data at
a rate of one message of every five seconds
or faster for this dll to detect the GPS.
Once the GPS is detected, you are given the
option of automatically updating the GPS
settings.
If no GPS is found, some diagnostic messages
are displayed to assist you in diagnosing the
problem. The documentation describes how to
interpret the diagnostic messages and
suggests possible solutions.
The extension can also be executed from
VBscript and there are properties to read and
modify the GPS port settings from VBscript.
