Summary
Interpolate on an attribute of multiple Z-Valued data points at the same XY locations.
This extension adds menu choices to View and Scene GUIs and provides dialogs that let a user make interpolations on an attribute of a point theme. When many points with different Z-values are located at the same XY coordinates, the extension stratifies the data based on the Z value, and makes an interpolated grid from each stratum. The user can control the selection of data based on Z values. The user can control the number of strata to make. The output is a set of interpolated grids. A common use for this extension is to make a set of interpolated grids based on sample readings, often some groundwater contaminant level, taken from a group of wells.
The interpolated grid set is treated as a single object. Dialogs are used to change the parameters that make and display the interpolated grid set. A single interpolator is applied to all the strata. Any one of the Spatial Analyst interpolators, Inverse Distance Weighting, Trend, Spline, or Kriging can be used. Multiple interpolated grid sets can be made and compared.
This extension can also be used on data with just one attribute and Z value (i.e. they are the same) at each XY location, as can be done using the standard interface, but all four of the Spatial Analyst interpolators can be used.
Does not work with PointZ data.
Use Point data with a Z field.
